What is misting? What is it used for?

Misting is a technology that allows the lowering of temperature and the restoration of a comfortable humidity in an environment. Misting restores a comfortable climate with the almost instantaneous evaporation of microdroplets of water.

Misting systems meet various needs. They provide comfort in public spaces by refreshing the atmosphere (restaurants, airports, stations halls, swimming pools…), they can prevent odors or insects in farms, or they limit the dust and avoid fire hazard in industries (paper, wood, textile).

There are different misting systems on the market. BRO Brumisation misting is a high-pressure misting system.

How does the high-pressure misting system work ?

Misting consists of the production of water microdroplets from 8 to 25 microns, by high-pressure and micrometric nozzles, in the ambient air.

The operating principle of our misting systems: we use the water from the main water inlet which is then filtered to get rid of all its impurities, bacteria and viruses. Once the water is filtered, it is then turned into fog by our misting system.

Specifically, the principle is to inject water through the high-pressure pump in very fine nozzles, causing the atomization of microdroplets of water.

In contact with the air, a thick fog will form and then evaporate in a few seconds causing the temperature to drop from 3 °C to 10 °C and the restoration of a comfortable hygrometry.

At the outlet of the nozzles, the microdroplets measure from 8 to 25 microns, they travel about 1.5 meters per second before evaporating. This transition from liquid state to gaseous state allows the lowering of the temperature.

The extreme finesse of the microdroplets of water allows instant mixing with the air. In addition, an anti-drip system equips all of our nozzles. When the misting system stops, no drop of residual water escapes from the nozzles. The high pressure misting system is an ecological and economical process.

Which misting system to choose ?

To properly choose a misting system, do not confuse high-pressure and low-pressure systems.

The difference between the two processes is the water pressure.

The high-pressure misting system has a much higher pressure with the use of a high-pressure group while the low-pressure system the low-pressure system connects directly to the tap and uses only the tap water pressure.

– Differences between high-pressure and low-pressure misting systems

HIGH-PRESSURE MISTING

We made the choice to offer high-pressure misting systems, whose pressure is higher than 70 bars. High-pressure misting is highly technical. It is much more efficient and meets all the specific needs of our customers. Indeed, high-pressure misting generates water microdroplets that are much smaller than those produced by low-pressure misting. This extreme finesse makes it possible to meet all humidification needs in every sector: industry, agriculture, train stations, airports, seafood stores…

LOW-PRESSURE MISTING

As its name suggests, low-pressure misting systems have a low pressure, between 3 and 10 bar. As a result, the drops of water produced have a large size. They are 10 times larger (size between 100 and 200 microns) than those provided by high-pressure misting systems (between 8 and 25 microns). Low-pressure misting tends to wet the surfaces considerably, as the water drops are unable to evaporate quickly.

Low-pressure misting is an economical solution and therefore does not meet the needs of professional users or private individuals. Its use is restricted to the residential market for misting the contours of swimming pools or small garden plots in private homes.
